2 parents who are currently required to work from home, with one full time and the other part time. 

Home office workstation 1

Environment: 

  • The home office has been set up in the garage which has been converted into a breakout area.
  • There is limited external lighting, but overhead lighting is suitable
  • The temperature is controlled by external heating/cooling
  • Flooring has been placed down with rubber matting and rugs
  • There is ample space behind the desk to move and underneath the desk
  • The printer is placed on a storage unit for easy access

Workstation

  • The desk is a height adjustable sit stand desk that is > 1.8m wide
  • There is 1 ergonomic task chair
  • There are 2 workstations for use (apple and PC set up) and external keyboard, mouse and height adjustable monitor stands/arms to allow for maneourability

How is the space used

  • One worker will use this space at any one time. 
  • Worker who requires desk space, printing etc is prioritised for using this area

Home Workstation 2

Environment: 

  • The home office has been set up in a spare bedroom upstairs
  • There is ample external and internal lighting
  • The temperature is controlled by internal heating and cooling
  • Flooring is standard carpet
  • There is ample space behind the desk

Workstation

  • The desk is a small fixed height desk
  • There is 1 ergonomic task chair
  • The workstation consists of a monitor on stand, keyboard, mouse and secondary laptop stand

How is the space used

  • One worker will use this space at any one time. 
  • Worker who is not required to perform long duration typing and mouse tasks or use paper, print paper etc uses this workstation

Other General Advice Given

  • Take short breaks regularly every 30-60 minutes
  • Every 2-3 hours move for longer i.e. walk, or do some exercise
  • Break up the work day into chunks i.e. 2-3 hours of work
  • Devise a work plan and how work, child minding and activity can be structured
